Sector's description and topology:
That sector is not the ideal to make a skateboard competition! Not only by its rocky peaks and its pointed stones but also because a clumsy movement of our friends would send them to change against rocks and to fall into the vacuum. Sometimes they must borrow very narrowpassages between the rocks. Add to all this someclouds of fogand you will understand why our friends spade-do not screw here very often…
They are there the three components of the Mountain sector: A permanent fog, long bridges which connect plates to mean size and rocks (of small stone to the large peak) established everywhere. Dangerous but with the eyes of much the most esthetic of the Territories from its Eastern a little extreme environment…
Most mountains are hollow containing tunnels, passages or other cavities like caves. One find seven around a tower labyrinth in which the heroesare dissimulated and faced a troop of Kankrelat inepisode 11 “Rendezvous”.
Many mounts float in all this sector. They are inaccessible, except by Supersmoke or vehicle. Again, their importance is only less, however, the heroes make use of it sometimes to sow monsters or to take them with reverse. Their role thusappears during celestial confrontations. Yumi saves its life of accuracy in episode 23 “Jeremy's blues”. Following a fall towards the Digital Sea, it catches up with accuracy there.

The tower in the virtual world or realities:
A/ Description
The tower are distributed in the Lyoko's sectors and the Cortex. One is unaware of their exact number. At the beginning, there was only one Tower in the 5th sector but of thers appeared at the time of the return of XANA. Each tower resembles a rectangular giant pillar. They are black and a light white halation filters on the level of grooves on the Lathe. When a whole is activated, it is dislocated in several pieces at it stop. The blocks which are detached flight around the Tower and a luminous halation emerges from there, its color depends on the activator of the Tower.
●When XANA activates a tower to attack our world, it is red.
●When Jeremy activates a tower, it is blue. One is unaware of if Aelita still activates the Tower on its own account where I fit makes only the relai of Jeremy.
●When Tyron activates a tower, it is violet.
Inside of the tower is always the same one, independently of which uses them. The walls are covered with binary lines of data. There are two platforms, where it is XANA's eye: one on the level of the ground, and higher. She gives access to an interface which makes it possible who ever to reach the real world. The interface is also the tower's heart and it is by this one that the tower can change owner or that the special programs as the integration of false-codes in Ulrich (Episode 09 “How to Fool XANA”) engage.
B/ Function:
The tower are data banks which indefatigably excavate the ground networks in search ofinformation and of energy. As they are connected to these networks, they can act here and thus represent, with the scanners, the only bridge between Lyoko/Cortex and the Earth. The person with the orders of he Tower can act on the electrical communications and data processing and start various phenomena going of a shower of sparks (Episode 01 “XANA2.0”) to the appearance of an electromagnetic spectrum.
The towers are used to create a link with the Earth but also to carry out data-processing actions requiring many particular energy orauthorizations like D-insufflating code-sources with Odd (episode 19 “The Trap”)!
The access to the tower is strictly regulated.
The Monsters of XANA do not have access there. The Tower represent, on this side, asanctuary. The spectrum of episode 19 how ever succeeded in clearing a passage. Aelita is the oretically the only one to have access inside the Towers. It is its statute of Guardian of Lyoko which was worth that to him, when the father of Aelita created Lyoko. Never the less, thanks to the code-sources that XANA established with the heroes, the carriers of codes are from now able also to return in the Towers… except if they come to lose all their code. Yumi, Ulrich and Odd thus could return in the towers. Not William. Let us note an exception:The codeless can integrate the passage Tower.
Then what is a passage Tower …
The passage Towers are, theoretically, of the ways of navigation in Lyoko but that was not reaffirmedin Code Lyoko Evolution. Thus read the Towers page of Code Lyoko for more information. In short, the simple Towers are supposed to communicate between them by data flows which one borrows while jumping in the vacuum inside the Tower. And each sector had a passage Tower which carried out towards another sector bordering.
As the concept of Code Lyoko Evolution evolved, no certainty on this subject, there fore…
That to thus make whole that… The concept of the passage Towers was how ever preserved since it are mentioned in episode 19… and the idea that even the codeless can return inside is justified since without that, that means that they could never have surfed between the Sectors… However! With the disappearance of the Forest and Ice-barrier, the communication system of the Territories between them is found completely crossed. Does a hero who borrows the Tower of passage of the Mountain arrive in the digital vacuum, where was one of the two disappeared Territories? Indeed, the Mountainand the Desert are opposed on Holomap.Failure…
How ever, this approximation of the system of displacement inside Lyoko really any more does not have of importance in Evolution…Quite simply because Jérémie canteleport/transfer his/her friends virtualized fromone Territory to the other, of a simple data-processing operation. The Towers thus lose all their interest from this point of view there…
As for Carthage and its news towers… not of information either. Is there a passage Tower? If so, where does it carry out? In short, nothing precise good. Identical uncertainties & ignorance with regard to the Cortex's towers.
C/ The towers's challenge
The towers are in the middle of all the episodes. By them, pass: The desactivation and thus the stop of the attack of XANA on Earth. The programs about which one already spoke. Without the towers, Lyoko would be only one beautiful panorama. These very powerful tower sare in the middle of the series and the destroying conflict which crosses it. Thus, their control is a paramount challenge in the near total of the episodes of the series. In the original series, the users of the virtual world fought times for the control of the Towers (XANA stole the control of some Towers in Jérémie controle… or Hopper with XANA). This point there is not approached in Code Lyoko Evolution, even if obviously, the Lyoko Code always makes it possible to stop control thatXANA exerts on a Lathe. How ever, it is noted that the only time where Jeremy activated a Tower in Evolution, XANA spied on what it made there, without being made locate (Episode 09“How to fool XANA”). More over, on this occasion, the Tower activated by Jeremy, which would have being blue, appeared red, which is presented by Jeremy like a “bug” of the Tower. The concept of the Towers remains in spite of very unexploited in Evolution. Lastly, activations of Tower by Tyron remain mysterious. First of all because one assisted to with it only once (Episode 24 “Temporal Paradox”). And also because of rather particular unfolding. The heroes did not succeed inpenetrating the Tower to return the Lyoko Code there… Would this famous code have it to function with a Tower activated by Tyron? Or is it functional only to counter XANA?More over, the Tower which was used for Tyron to create a virtual phenomenon (appearance of a bubble generating a temporal loop) disappears completely from the Cortex after having generated its attack… what is relatively new.
Does that come owing to the fact that the curve of temporality consumes so much energy which the whole Tower was consumed? No answer.
Note:
This last paragraph is less complete than the first and very summary because the topic Placesdoes not aim recalling the history and the conflicts of the virtual war, but at quickly presenting the grounds of battles and their challenges. For more information, thus consult the topic History, possibly, but especially the XANA topic indicates much concerning theuse that XANA makes towers and their challenges in the conflict which opposes the Artificial intelligence to the heroes (including their defense, offensives of the heroes and more still).
Tower desactivated in the 5th Sector
Tower activated by Jeremy in the Deserted Sector
Tower activated by XANA in the mountain Sector
Tower activated by Tyron in the Cortex

Sector's description and topology
Just like any desert of this name, the territory of the desert is dry, yellow and sandy, in all the points of view. Its trays are rocks, covered by a fine sand which lifts up itself in the passage of vehicles and monsters. Very big rocks pierce trays upright.
The Deserted Territory seems to be the vastest Lyoko surface sector's!
Indeed, in all other Territories of Surface, we find very long ways which connect platforms each other, only this sector makes an exception. It is conversely constituted by very vast trays which are interconnected only by small bridges...
Its second peculiarity is that it is the Territory of Canyons and Pits! Indeed, in multiple places of the Desert are canyons who look like profound trenches which twist on long distances in the Sector. They are very dangerous because monsters often wait there for the heroes in ambush (Episode 07 "Countdown").
As regards pits, we meet two categories: those who have no bottom and embody mortal wells towards the digital sea, others who have it one! In the latter, it happens that we find a tower, sometimes suspended (Episode 7), very difficult to achieve when they are guarded well, as by a wall of Blok.
The Lyoko desert Sector's shelters almost no element of set, if it is not rocks scattered in all the Territory, that are by consequent of a big utility, for the monsters which hide themselves or the heroes there who shelter the time there to develop a strategy (Episode 09 " How to fool XANA ").
The desert also contains some mounds of sand.

In episode 07 "Countdown", XANA generates a wall of Bloks.
In episode 15 " The codeless ", XANA generates William's replica to manipulate him.

- Le laboratoire de Tyron -> Tyron's laboratory
Citation:
Tyron's laboratory:
The laboratory of Tyron is a mysterious room. The heroes have never visited her, only perceived. Return at the story. The heroes have at first, in their survey about XANA's come back, found the Cortex. Having reached the heart of this world, they were able, thanks to the interface, to discover information on the Supercomputer which generated it. What after what, they also made discoveries on the owner of the engine.
They found at first historical documents of video recording. They discover it a unique room, filled with computer. On this video, Aelita discovered, stunned, his father in full altercation with Tyron (Episode 02 "Cortex” and 07 "Countdown").
Afterward, the heroes will have current pictures, directly from the place, thanks to a webcam. They obtain first a meeting with professor Tyron (Episode 16 "Confusion") before spying on diverse occasions on the contents of the room by pirating the interface of the Cortex (Episode 18 "Tenacity" and 20 "Espionage"). It is at diverse opportunities that the heroes discover that Anthéa Hopper is always alive, with Tyron and that Aelita manages to make a brief message pass to her mother.
That to pull of all this? Quite a lot of things by extrapolating just a little.
First of all, a historic ambiguity. The first video of the place which we discover is the recording of the altercation between Hopper and Tyron. She already takes place inside this famous complex, in 2003. Knowing that Hopper was at the head of its project and that Tyron, one of his assistants had disappeared suddenly how come that 10 years later, we find Tyron at the head of the same complex?
Do we have to deduct that after the leak of Hopper on Lyoko, Tyron took control of the structure? Or while Hopper was not in its own laboratory when he took himself of beak with Tyron? Good question. In any case, if Tyron "officially" disappeared from the circulation in 2003, he seems a lot not to have moved during all this time because we find him in the same place in 2013.
As regards the complex.
Of course, by means of the webcam, the heroes had a picture only on a single room, filled with computers (which none seems to be a supercomputer moreover). Nevertheless, the rest of the series widely makes us think that it is about a much vaster complex the heroes of which had only a low outline. Let us tilt we on this complex.
The last episode indicates us its situation: It is in Switzerland (what does not miss to call back that in the livened up series Codes Lyoko, the chalet of Hopper was in Switzerland). It would thus correspond to the laboratories in which the Carthage project was able to be made. It is by means of Graven, a messenger of Tyron to Kadic, that we learn that this complex shelters, among others, a research center on the quantum physics (Episode 17 "A professional career guaranteed"), as well as, certainly, a training school for young gifted children. It is the famous "Quantum Research Center" which Tyron sells to Jérémie and Laura when he tries to treat them.
The complex also shelters, it goes without saying, the Supercomputer of Tyron, doubtless situated in a vaster room with the required cooling systems. We find also the special dresses there in which virtualized Tyron of the human beings in the form of Ninjas.
Finally, the complex also shelters from the staff. We think, naturally, of Anthéa Hopper whose relation with Tyron is still ambiguous. However, it is not the only one. There is probably an army of researchers who surround Tyron... As well as the mysterious individuals who virtualize in Ninja. Those even as Tyron summons when he detects an intrusion in the Heart of the Cortex (Episode 20 "Espionage").
The complex of Tyron remains nevertheless full of mystery which the heroes will drill maybe one day.

A)Definition
Mark: by the digital sea (wrongly called empty digital), we understand, here, the part of Digital Ocean which penetrated into the virtual worlds. In the series, the heroes call too it Digital Sea. We use this expression especially to separate this small sea of the vast area of digital water that is the World Network. This fluid circulates by the sieve which is the exit of Lyoko.
The Digital Sea is wrongly sometimes appointed empty Digital because when the heroes fall there, they are digitized forever. The mixture comes thus probably from the expression “Fall in the space”.
The digital space, him, corresponds to “the atmosphere” of a virtual world: all which has no solid consistency (as the ground of Territories) or aqueous... Except that exactly, we cannot speak about atmosphere seen that the gas does not exist on Lyoko. All which thus appears to us to be as of the air (sight) is good a “digital space”
The Digital Sea, it, indicates the aqueous flow which waves under Territories. The water of the Digital Sea is only symbolization.
Two main theories exist as for its exact nature.
- In the network, we find Data banks which are immersed in this water. So, the digital water could represent the electricity: the energy! The one who circulates in our computers and connects us in "human network"
- Or then, this water would be that it would be in fact a pile of data. All the limitedness of the data which browse internet and are requested by Billions by the Internet users. This fact is confirmed by the dangerousness of the Digital Sea. In fact, when a hero falls there, its virtual body made by data is, in a way, either crushed or scattered, either gobbled up in this enormous flow of data. That's what made by the fall in the Digital Sea a lethally dangerous experience(experiment) to such a point that the heroes would be ready for anything, even to virtualize Laura, to avoid that it arrives at the one two (Episode 13 "Friday the 13th").
Very few virtual things resist the pressure of the Digital Sea. Certain monsters of XANA were specially programmed to survive it (Rekin, Kongres, later Mantas). However, these monsters stayed in the Digital Sea outside of Lyoko and Cortex (Cortices). Ninja also seems to be able to survive it. Finally, Skidbladnir was specially designed in the optics to resist it.
B) Role in the series
The Digital Sea is an omnipresent danger. She adds of the spine to the series by creating a certain threat. It is moreover largely the presence of the Digital Sea which returns the so dangerous instability of the Cortex.
As explained above, when one of the heroes falls in the Digital Sea, he puts itself in grave danger of virtual dispersal. It is necessary to pass by two stages to return him.
The first one and certainly the most delicate: find him in this unlimitedness of digital water.
The second, to employ a program of realization so complex as the one that Jeremy used to return Aelita on Earth in past. It is a process terribly more complex than the quasi-automatic rematérialisation which takes place after a devirtualisation in Lyoko.
However, the chances to be found and fished up are tiny, where from the panic of the heroes every time one of them risks to have the fall fatal as Yumi in the episode 23 " Jeremy's blues ". It is thus necessary to pay attention not to lose its vehicle above the Digital Sea or to avoid falling there. The monsters of XANA sometimes try to propel the heroes there to get rid of it for ever (As the residual spectre of the episode 19 " The trap ").
Nevertheless, the heroes know also how to play this phenomenon and as the monsters of XANA are not saved by the Digital Sea, the heroes sometimes plunge them there by diverse guiles (Odd throws it Krabe of a violent blow of shoulder in the episode 04 "Miss Einstein").
C) The door of the Network
The Digital Sea was at first only an uncertain and dangerous border for the heroes. From the moment the heroes have Skidbladnir, they study this sea and discover that it is in reality only an arm of the World network...
Network immensely vaster than you can discover on the page which is concerned its.
Skidbladnir is thus a submarine which allows the heroes to cross the slender barrier that is the digital sea before passing by the sieve of Lyoko and making a commitment in a vaster territory.
Digital space in the Desert or the Cortex
Digital space in the Territory of the Mountain
Voilà j'espère avoir bien réussi la traduction...

Spoiler
Encadré de tête :
Spoiler
Here you will discover the school of our heroes. The place where they live as perfectly normal teenagers…but where their double life as saviors of mankind regularly catch up with them, disguised as a specter, a ringtone or a bug of the IT system of the academy.
The series provide little information about the layout of the different rooms. So we will just stick to enumerate each place.
The portal:
Spoiler
Entrance of any establishment. Nothing special to notice. It is the usual meeting place of all students, where you can find those who enter (this is the place where Yumi hands out leaflets in episode 10 “The Warrior Awakens”) and those who go out (like Aelita and Yumi when they spend a girl's afternoon out in episode 21 “False Pretences”). But anyone who wants to go out must make it trough the hard-nosed customs of GI-Jim, who lets the day students out and supervises the comings and goings of the boarders.
It is also the place where deliveries are made, be it mistakes caused by XANA (episode 12 “Chaos at Kadic”) or flowers as an exception (episode 13 “Friday the 13th”).
The schoolyards:
Spoiler
As the aerial view of the school shows it, there are several playgrounds. Some of which are rather empty while other are embellished with lots of plants and benches and tables so that the students may work and get some rest.
The perimeter of some yards are ornamented with long archways which the students and the staff can access. There, there are lockers, accesses to the classrooms and simple closets in which you can hide (episode 25 “Massacre”).
For our heroes, the yards and the archways are a place to meet each other (episode 04 “Miss Einstein”), work (for Yumi and William in episode 05 “Rivalry”) and talk about everything and nothing. That's also where one might try to drive a bargain so that Yumi will accept one of Baudelaire's books (episode 22 “Mutiny”), or where our heroes shrug Laura off and sneak off in spite of Jim's surveillance.
It is also a dangerous place. Indeed, the yard is crawling with students. In such a crowd, XANA's spectres are granted the most efficient cover they may hope for. Be it an unknown little fith-grader (episode 03 “Spectromania”) or one of the adults in Kadic (episode 07 “Countdown”), or even one of our heroes (episode 05 “Rivalry”), XANA can give many appearances to its spectres to fool our heroes and sneak on they when they expect it the least.
Even when the spectre appeared elsewhere, it is not rare that the Lyokowarriors have to run through the schoolyards to get away from it and reach the factory.
The cafeteria:
Spoiler
You could not find a more common cafeteria. Beside the entrance, there is a small storage in which Odd is inopportunely locked after he purchased an illegal copy of a video game (episode 02 “Cortex”).
The everyday situation are somewhat banal. The heroes often meet up around a meal. Sometimes, Odd thinks about his dog while he strokes a kiwi. That's also where they have to babysit Aelita's clone once (episode 20 “Espionage”).
In episode 07 “Countdown”, Odd, well-dressed, meets up with Samantha to try and flirt with her. Unfortunately, he is attacked by a spectre before he can even begin to do so.
The classrooms:
Spoiler
Behind their activities as saviours of mankind, our heroes are just high school students. As such, they live what any of us has had to experiment during his life. Drying up on the board in front of a “hard” exercise (episode 04 “Miss Einstein”), receiving one's report card (episode 12 “Chaos at Kadic”), confessions about love stories (episode 01 “XANA 2.0”) – in short, the everyday life of a student.
They sometimes find refuge in the classrooms to get away from spectres (episode 09 “How To Fool XANA”).
The dormitories:
Spoiler
Above the classrooms, there are dormitories. It is our heroes' hideout when they are not at the factory, where they like to hold briefings and debriefings (episode 08 “Virus”). The rooms are simple, their dimensions are modest, but they are decorated according to their occupiers' liking.
The dorms are also a dangerous place, for the same reasons for which the schoolyards should be avoided. You never know if a spectre will appear in front of you when you turn the corridor, or if it will appear directly in the common bathrooms (episode 16 “Confusion”).
The room of Ulrich and Odd
In this room, there are two beds and it is decorated according to the taste of two teenagers. On the walls, there are pieces of paper covered by tags, probably drafted by Odd. As for Ulrich, we can see mangas on the shelves, and martial arts posters.
When spectres attack them in episode 03 “Spectromania”, Ulrich and Odd try to barricade themselves there. In the end, a spectre manages to break down the door, just before disappearing right after the deactivation of the tower.
Aeltia's room
Unlike Ulrich and Odd, Aelita has her own room and her own laptop. She uses it when she tries to find her mother using social networks; XANA also uses it to set a trap for her by sending her an e-mail pretending it comes from her parents (episode 11 “Rendezvous”).
Jeremy's room
Jeremy's room is the most important one. It is the one where our heroes' main meeting-place, especially when they need to review the situation, especially about the source codes (episode 15 “The Codeless”), or when they want to draw up a report after a mission.
Jeremy spends a great deal of time in his room, working on his computer. For example, that is where he repairs the video in which Tyron and Hopper appear (episode 07 “Countdown”). He also develops the Megapod (episode 04 “Miss Einstein”) and works, all night long if it is needed, on the virus intended to destroy the Cortex, along with Laura (episode 18 “Tenacity”).
Finally, that's where the alarm tone rings when XANA attacks in the middle of the night – when he allows himself a little rest.
Jim's room
Supervisor of the dormitories, Jim also has his own room. That is where we learn that our PE teacher is keen on animal documentaries, that he watches with an empty eye while stuffing himself with junk food. The room is also seen when Ulrich comes looking for advises about martial arts, or wants to thank his mentor.
The gymnasium:
Spoiler
There is a gymnasium at Kadic. It is well-equipped (climbing wall, pommel horse, ropes) and much used. The students can go there for training whenever they want, like Ulrich and Yumi in episode 01 “XANA 2.0” or meditation, like Ulrich in episode 25 “Massacre”).
That is also where Jim gives his PE lessons. He often has to face strange scenes: a time loop that pushes his students into insolent behaviours (episode 24 “Temporal Paradox”), Aelita's clone that does not obey indications correctly (episode 20 “Espionage”), or even the apparition of a spectre in the storage where he has to change the fuse (episode 01 “XANA 2.0”).Even when the gymnasium is used for other purposes, like hosting a charity party (episode 06 “Suspicions”), XANA finds a way to send spectres there. It is also the place where tournaments oppose champions from different schools, in particular karate tournaments (episode 10 “The Warrior Awakens”).
Finally, there is a bodybuildeing room at Kadic, and it is probably adjacent to the gum. William's spectre bearks down its door (episode 05 “Rivalry”). Odd tries to lock Aelita and Ulrich inside, but with very little success (episode 15 “The Codeless”).
The library and the computer room:
Spoiler
Two special rooms, but you can find them in any school…therefore, there is not much to say about it. The computer room is shown only once, when Jim tries to give a cybersports lesson, which fails because of XANA (episode 01 “XANA 2.0”).
Sometimes, our heroes meet at the library. Once, Yumi and William have to ensure that Aelita remains there while Jeremy is is truing to figure out something about her mother (episode 23 “Jeremy's Blues”).
In episode 08 “Virus”, Odd steals Laura's tablet so that she follows him to the factory, where our heroes intend to brief the little genius. Finally, it is in this same library that Laura makes an inquiry of her own into Franz Hopper (episode 16 “Confusion”).
The office of Mr Delmas:
Spoiler
The Principal's office is where important events take place. It is decorated with an old style, with old furniture, some period paintings and a bunch of old-fashioned things.
This is where extraordinary visitors like Graven (episode 17 “A Professional Career Guaranteed”) or Tyron (epiosde 26 “Ultimate Mission”) are welcomed.
It is also where Mister Delmas sees displeased parents (like Laura's father in episode 12 “Chaos at Kadic”) or students who were punished by teachers (episode 15 “The Codeless”).
You can also find there the microphone that enables the headmaster to make an announcement to the whole school…or Jim to call one specific student. Odd uses its sound waves to weaken a spectre once, by singing “Brother John” (episode 15).
The manor:
Spoiler
A little further away from the school, there is a building that the students call either the chapel or the manor. Well-named, the place looks ancient and evokes an atmosphere of spirituality. Aelita is lured there by XANA, that materializes a clone of Anthea Hopper. The young girl, convinced that she and her mother are about to be reunited, becomes suddenly gullible and rushes there to see her mother in spite of Jeremy's warnings, which costs her a lot of codes.
The park:
Spoiler
All around the school, there is a huge park. Far from a small area of grass, it rather looks like a little wood. The students seem to be allowed to go and move there quite freely since we frequently see them in that place. Odd seems quite fond of it: he uses it to go jogging (episode 15 “The Codeless”), or just lay down an listen to some music (episode 25 “Massacre”). Jim is not outdone, since he practices tai-chi there every morning (episode 11 “Rendezvous”).
However, the park is above all else a transitory set, because it is where the entrance to the secret passage that leads to the factory is located…But in any conflict, roads and moves are a very strategic element to control: as a result, a huge part of the action takes place in the woods.
It would be pointless to establish a list of all the to-ing and fro-ing that goes on there. Let us just point out that our heroes are very often ambushed in the park by XANA's spectres. It is the case with the spectre of the man in black (episode 19 “The Trap”), that of the American footballer (episode 15 “The Codeless”), or that of Michel Rouiller (episode 25 “Massacre”). In episode 21 “Flase Pretenses”, a polymorphic spectre causes a bunch of misunderstandings during which the heroes come across each other and have to determine whether they are facing a spectre or not.
“Ligter” events also take place in the park. Like the love fight-and-settlement of Ulrich and Yumi in episode 10 “The Warrior Awakens”. In episode 22 “Mutiny”, Jim organizes an obstacle course through that school and the park as well.
The secret passage:
Spoiler
The entrance of the secret passage, a manhole at the top of a big metal block, is not very discreet. But it does not really matter since nobody is fond of going down in the sewers.
In episode 02 “Cortex”, it is where William waits to trip our heroes up, to complain about the fact he was not re-integrated in the group.
The function of the sewers is similar to that of the park: they are but a stage on the way to the factory. Our heroes often use it but there is not much that happens there. Two special elements take place there. The first one is the fight between Jim's spectre and Ulrich/Odd at the very beginning of the fight against XANA (episode 01 “XANA 2.0”). The other one might sound unimportant but it is so incredible that it is worth mentioning: Aelita thanks Laura (episode 11 “Rendezvous”). This will go down in history.
Besides that, nothing really significant happens in the sewers. Except some banter, like an orientation course for Aelita's confuse clone.

⋅ Kadic Academy is named as an homage after a famous novelist, Philip K.Dick. Click on the picture to read our file on him.
⋅ In the animated series, the model of Kadic Academy was Lycée Lakanal in Paris. Yet Code Lyoko Evolution was shot elsewhere: in Lucée Guez-de-Balzac, located in Angoulême. We will soon write de file about that school. Click here to discover a video about the matte painting related to the school.
⋅ The forest in which were shot the series and, in particular, the park scenes, is the Bois de Soyaux, located in the surroundings of Guez-de-Balzac.
Behind the scenes:
Spoiler
⋅ The painting in the office of Mr Delmas is a portrait of Commandant Sylvain Raynal. Since this painting looks a little similar to some pro-military paintings reminding of Maréchal Pétain, it entailed a polemic during the shooting, some people wondering if it should appear in the series or not.
⋅ On each door of the dormitories, there is a little piece of paper indicating the name of the boarders who live inside. The props person, who didn't know the Universe of the series, gave a room to Yumi; however, Morgane, the Lyokofan continuity girl who was present at the shooting, pointed out that mistake and it was corrected.
⋅ The tags hooked on the walls of the room of Odd and Ulrich are the winners of a graffiti contest that was organized while Code Lyoko Evolution was being prepared.
⋅ the mangas that you can see in the room of Aelita or in that of Ulrich and Odd are exactly the same objects, used in both scenes. By the way, most of them were written in Japanese, the original version.
⋅ The textbooks that they use in the classrooms are intended for the 12th grade, not the 10th grade.
EDIT (sunday) : The factory was quicker to translate, because part of the job was already done on the CL page.
The Factory
Shaka :
Spoiler
Difficulties:
Spoiler
“L'usine, ancien bastion de Franz Hopper” > it's a metaphor; don't know if it sounds awkward in English.
“est le chef-lieu des héros” > another metaphor. Rather than “country town”, that sounds even stranger in English than in French, I used a more common (and coherent) metaphor: high-quarters.
The term "opérateur" was hard to translate. I choosed "user" (Tron o/), but it is also the one who is in command, in charge of the mission…the same word Neo uses to talk to the guy who is outside of the Matrix, for example.
Presentation of the factory
Spoiler
The factory, familiar for our heroes, is located a few hundreds of meters away from Kadic Academy. On first sight, they seem to be able to go there quite easily, as long as XANA does not try to put a spoke in their wheels. In order to do so, they can use the secret passage than leads from the school's park to the factory.
The building is located on a little island, at the middle of the river that flows through the city – to be more specific, the Seine ! It is also the reason why, when they go underground, they are rather underwater!
But maybe a schema might be clearer. This conceptual document concerns the factory in Code Lyoko, but it is probably still valid for Evolution, since the hybrid series did not really make much changes to the factory…
This place, former stronghold of Franz Hopper, is the HQ of our heroes since it is the location of the well-known complex of the Supercomputer, a powerful machine that generates Lyoko. In theory, only our heroes know of this place and go there; when there is anyone else in the factory, it is generally a bad sign.
XANA sent several spectres there to get back its source codes since it knows that our heroes spend most of their time there. So our young people witnessed spectres of Samantha (episode 07 “Countdown”) , of a man in black (episode 19 “The Trap”) and of Ms Hertz (episode 23 “Jeremy's Blues”) bursting in the factory. Both times, our heroes did well, by deactivating the tower, virtualizing the spectre or simply running away.
**img**
There were two other undesirable visitors who were brought to the factory. First, Laura's father, Mr Gauthier, was taken there by our blonde heroine so that she would not have to go to another school (episode 12 “Chaos at Kadic”). Then Graven, one of Tyron's men, was brought to the factory by Aelita, who wanted to gain some time (episode 17 “A Professional Career Guaranteed”). Jeremy gets rid of those two intruders with a return to the past.
**img**
However, since our heroes are anxious to limit the returns to the past because it costs too much energy, they are sometimes deeply annoyed by the fact that they must preserve the secret about the factory…for instance, when they have to hurtle there while Sissi clings to them (episode 21 “False Pretences”). Even so, compared to their previous adventures, the secret about the factory has been well preserved during this new battle against XANA.
As for the inside of the building itself, our heroes do not venture anymore in the nooks and parts they do not need to explore. They just enter the building, walk into the elevator, enter the code 1506 and go down to the part that is actually interesting:…
The Supercomputer complex:
Spoiler
In the factory, there is a secret complex composed of three underground rooms, piled up on each other.
The deepest one is the Supercomputer room. It is in this one that you can find the famous machine that generates Lyoko, launches the Returns to the Past and records all the data relative to the Lyoko Warriors.
The room contains an underground part into which the Supercomputer sinks and resurfaces with a kind of white fluid seeping out of it. From all accounts, it is a cooling chamber because Supercomputers heat up so much that they must be cooled with something more than simple ventilators.
It is also the place where our heroes shut down the Supercomputer after XANA's supposed death…They swore not to come back ever again; but they have to do so when the artificial intelligence gave once again signs of its presence. So they switched the macine back on (episode 01 “XANA 2.0”). Then, they made sure that it would be turned off again, after they sent their virus in the Cortex (episode 26 “Ultimate Mission”).
**img**
The heat and the light in the room are generated by the Supercomputer. Consequently, the room is hot and illuminated if the machine is on…but bleak and freezing if it is not the case.
Besides, since there is nothing in the room except this imposing computer, Aelita imprisons there Laura and her father in episode 12 “Chaos at Kadic”, until the problems concerning XANA are settled and the return to the past is launched.
Above the Supercomputer are the scanners.
**img**
Big cables cross every part of this room, connecting the scanners to the Supercomputer and the laboratory! The heroes always have to come through the Scanner Room because it is the direct portal towards Lyoko and the digital world.
This room is not very big compared to the Lab or the Supercomputer room, but it is very high. It shelters three yellow cases that measure two metres high. So our heroes frequently have to virtualize in turns. At the base of scanners is a mess of cables. They feed the scanners with energy. If they are disconnected (as in episode 19 “The Trap”), any rematerialization is impossible. On the tops of the cases, messes of cables rise up to the ceiling to end up in the laboratory.
The Laboratory is the most important room in the factory.
A machine paradise, in the center of the room sits the Supercomputer as well as the Holomap, the hologram showing every Sector of Lyoko as well as the activated Towers when there are some. It changes its appearance depending on the part of the Digital World in which our heroes are located. The Supercomputer is equipped with four screens. A central one, two laterals and a fourth above the main screen.
Cables in every corner of the room are connected to the terminal. This place is, above all else, the control center of the user. Anything that is going on in Lyoko can be monitored there. Be it Jeremy, Laura or, in some occasions, someone else, the user provides the Lyokowarriors on the field with an essential logistic support. He is also the one who launches most of the programs, like the virtualization or the vehicles.
It is also one of the places where the heroes meet in order to review the situation, about the return of XANA, or Tyron and Aelitaa's mother, or the inclusion of Laura in the group. Therefore, it is not rare to see the five friends together in the room.
**img**
[i]Like the Cathedral (the main room in the factory), the labo is the room where the confrontations may take place when the spectres come. However, let us point out that unlike what it used to do before, XANA, did not attack the users (Laura and Jeremy) since it returned. So the battles inside the factory are much less frequent.
Source of inspiration:
Spoiler
Our heroes' factory, as it is drawn in Code Lyoko, is inspired by the Renault factory of Boulogne-Billancourt. Unfortunately, at the present time, this place has been destroyed. So the scenes that take place in the factory, in Code Lyoko Evolution, were not shot in an actual factory, and the old Renault factory can still be considered to be the inspiration source of the factory in Evolution.
Do you wish to discover the real factory? Come browse our file.
Behind the scenes:
Spoiler
⋅ The code of the elevator, 1506, is the birthday of Marin Lafitte, the actor who embodies Jeremy and was born the 15th of June [Translator's Note: in French, dates are written DD/même/YY(YY)]
⋅ The tags on the factory's wall are the winners of a graffiti contest that was organized while Code Lyoko Evolution was being prepared.
⋅ The scenes in the Cathedral room, in the scanner room and in the Supercomputer room, were entirely shot using a green screen. Then, the characters were inserted in the background by matte painting. For the scanner room, big tubes from construction sites (those that usually evacuate rubble from the superior floors of buildings) were used to mimic a scanner's structure before the matte-painting.
⋅ The laboratory and the secret tunnel are two unique sets entirely created for the shooting of the series. The actors, the screens and so on are then added using matte painting. From the outside, the laboratory is a big wooden dome. This set was created by Paul Chapelle and his team.
